1. 1797 Draped Bust Dime – 16 Stars

Current Valuation: $200,000

Dime Grade: PCGS MS-66

The USA Mint produced the first dimes worth money in 1796. While unsure, I assume that Gilbert Stuart with Robert Scot was responsible for engraving this piece. Before then, it was customary to include a star for each state that made up the union.

The coin had only thirteen stars when it was initially struck at the mint in early 1797. I can tell that the mint minted this coin in the second part of the year since it contains 16 stars. According to the United States Mint registry, twenty-five thousand two hundred fifty dimes were produced that year.

2. 1800 Draped Bust Dime

Current Valuation: $353,000

Grade: PCGS MS-66

Here’s another illustration of really antique dimes worth money in superb shape. Just 21,760 dimes were made that year, according to documents from the Mint. According to numismatists, less than 100 of these 1800 dimes are still available to coin collectors.

4. 1975 No-S-Proof Roosevelt Dime

In its San Francisco plant in 1975, the US Mint only made Proof coins. Thus, an “S” mark should be visible on all currencies. Two Roosevelt dimes worth money, nevertheless, left the mint unmarked. Theoretically, mint employees accidentally created a die without the S mark.

Any false coins made without the “S” mintmark were purportedly destroyed by the mint. A few of them are still around, though…

5. 1797 Draped Bust Dime With 13 Stars

6. 1822 Proof Capped Bust Dime

This coin exhibits each of these qualities and has a stunning iridescent tone. According to experts, the mint made two to five specimens of these dimes. This coin is worth nearly $450,000 due to its superb condition and rarity.

7. 1804 Draped Bust Dime With 14 Reversed Stars

Grade: NGC AU-58

In 1804, just 8,300 dimes worth money was made by the US Mint. Between the ring of clouds and the eagle, some of these dimes’ reverses featured 13 stars, while others had 14.

Each of these coins was manually engraved by the mint’s engravers, who chose the number of stars to be put above the eagle. According to numismatic specialists, there are now just 20 coins with 14 stars appearing reversed and only 75 coins with 13 stars.

8. 1796 Draped Bust Dime

Current Valuation: $882,000

Grade: PCGS MS-67

While many collectors do not consider this coin proof, experts concur that this coin requires some extra care and preparation during manufacture. Because of its fine detailing, it was probably produced using brand-new dies. The planchet also has no flaws that take away from its breathtaking beauty.

Numismatists believe that less than 900 coins survive today despite the mint producing more than 22,000. It is incredible that this piece has survived in such perfect shape and displays all its intricacies, increasing its worth to about $1 million.

9. 1873-CC Liberty Seated Dime Without Arrows

Current Valuation: $1,880,000

Grade: PCGS MS-65

All dimes worth money made at the Nevada Mint Plant in Carson City in 1873 must include pointed arrows next to the year. By the deadline, the mint workers did create 12,500 coins without arrows, but it is said that most were melted.

Numismatists believe that the one example that has endured so far. This raises this coin’s value to about $2 million due to its unique status and exceptionally higher levels of coin preservation.

10. 1894-S Barber Dime

Current Valuation: $1,998,000

Grade: PCGS Branch Mint PR66

24 Proof dimes were manufactured by the US Mint in 1894, according to records, in the San Francisco Mint. It is unknown why there were very few Proof dimes produced. Popular explanations include rounding out the mint workers’ books of record or distributing unique presentation pieces to visiting bankers.

Nonetheless, nine specimens of this dime have been found, and this one is the best. The “Dr. Jerry Buss Specimen” was auctioned in September 2019 and sold for $1,320,000 with a grade of PR-63.
